Mentor Opportunity

A message from Tim Herd, CEO of the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society:

“I'm currently serving on the Mentorship Committee of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA), and would like to ask your help in promoting its annual Mentorship Program with the NRPA Young Professionals Network. This program is for emerging leaders; parks and recreation professional staff; and students of parks, recreation, and related fields. The purpose is to provide each Mentee with development opportunities through a relationship with an experienced professional.

The Academy is also looking for experienced professionals who are willing to share their wisdom to serve as Mentors. As a Mentor or Mentee, the only requirement is 1-2 hours per month between April and October. The 2024 program's end coincides with the NRPA Conference. Registration for the Mentorship Program is currently open and closes on March 8. The link to apply is: aapra.org/Programs/Mentorship-Program

We realize that some younger professionals may be unsure as to what Mentorship entails and want to know more before committing to the program. We have created an optional webinar at which current Mentees will share their experiences. This webinar will be held on February 15 at 11:00 PST.  The link to register for the webinar is: redbarncommunications.zoom.us/meeting/register/....”
